Teen Fiction/Young Adult
Firstly, it’s pretty great that Park is half Korean. It’s even better that Rainbow isn’t a stereotypical leading lady. I feel like even misfits and outliers fit a certain mold these days so this was just a refreshing change.
I absolutely loved this book even though it made me cry, to be fair it doesn’t really take much to make me cry.
It was such a perfect blend of teen angst, first love and cold reality. Even though the book was set in the 80s, I could totally relate and I felt all my teen awkwardness and anxiety come flooding back.
Very well written, the characters are fleshed out and relatable, the relationships are well developed. The story is achingly beautiful.
I will definitely read it again.
